Hey Guys/Gals...Im going on vacation to New York to see the yankees play before they close the stadium down. Now ive never been to NY or even the US for that matter. Just thought i would ask around and see if anyone had any tips or suggestions of things to see/do in NY.

Where are you staying in NY? If you can stay outside the city and take a train in, it would be cheaper and keep you more sane.

As far as the city itself, you want to do most of your sightseeing in Manhattan. Never pay for a taxi if you can take the subway, it's way less expensive. Make sure you check out Times Square and the very bottom of Manhattan, where the Twin Towers used to be. Despite the 9/11 memorial, it has some great buildings and if you can, take the Staten Island ferry to the Statue of Liberty to see a great view of the city. The Empire State Building is also a great one to do, but do it during dusk or nighttime, the view of the city with lights on is much better. Also, Central Park is a nice chill spot. The further north past 86th street you go, the much more ghetto it gets. around 110th is where Spanish Harlem starts, and around 150th is where Harlem is located. The East side is the poor side, the West side is the trendy side (haven't been there much).

Hope that helps. Awesome city, you'll enjoy it.
