Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Empty Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Post by Guest June 24th 2008, 07:05

It's coming out in a week. I think these band themed games are bad ideas (unless it's a Led Zeppelin game), which goes to say that unless you are a hardcore fan of the band in question, it's going to be hard to justify the purchase of a full $60 game that revolves around one band and therefore, one genre style (for the most part). What do you guys think, are these "expansion games" worth it, or would developers/publishers be better off spending more time working on the true sequels to the main games?

It's just another way for them to make more money faster. Instead of puting out sequels every year they can make for types of games for it that people will buy. I wouldn't think that it would make the actual sequel suffer any though. But I agree with you about the targeted audiences.

It's smart business, since they essentially re-release Guitar Hero III with different animation and note charts. Most of the legwork is already done, so they can rake in the profits.

I'll wait for Guitar Hero: Slayer before I get in on the Guitar Hero Bandwagon. I still prefer my real guitar for now.

I prefer Rock Band because A) great party game and B) i can "practice" drumming since my actual kit is at my Dad's 20 minutes away. Once I get the real electronic kit that I can install in my townhouse (In the distant future, since a good one costs well over a thousand), I'll likely be done with rhythm based games so I can sharpen my skills with the real thing.

GATTTTOOOORRRRAAAADDDDEEEEE.

Haha i wasn't trying to sound like a prick, but I really want to start a band and all that stuff before I die and there's no time like the present. I still play those games like crazy, but it doesn't help much with the real thing.

I can play the trumpet. Do you need a trumpet in your band?

Actually the drums in rock band are supposed to be the only thing that's close to the real thing. Well besides the singing. Music is my main hobby besides rock-climbing and working so I feel your pain Zeph.

Yea man. Trumpets are badass. My sister was a symphonic trumpet player in middle and high school. I used to play French horn.

I'm glad I have Rock Band, otherwise I'd barely get to play anything resembling a kit. The game has really helped with my coordination. I'm actually intrigued by the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, since the electronic drums on that one are modeled after the way most electronic kits look, and the pads are all velocity sensitive, so you can differentiate between hard and soft hits. That, and the game is supposed to not penalize you if you play between hits in the note chart, so I'm assuming you can improvise on beats and fills. If the price is right, I may get that in lieu of an electronic kit and use the in game music making engine to record tracks and experiment.

That does sound pretty interesting Zeph. Hopefully some hacker will make computer drivers for the kit so that it can be used to trigger midi notes and you could use it to create tunes that way.
trumpet hero. Hehe
